Simple to Learn…

The Treasures of Montezuma 3 isn't a complicated game at all! You have a screen full of decorative tokens of various but distinct shapes and colors. In order to score points, you need to destroy as many as possible. Doing this is a simple process of swapping two tokens’ positions around. Group a token up into a row consisting of at least three matching ones, and they will all disappear into thin air, just like that! Any tokens above will fall down to occupy the newly opened gaps, more tokens come in from the top. Sounds easy, right?

…Hard to Master

Don’t expect The Treasures of Montezuma 3 to go that easy on you. In order to complete each level, you need to score a minimum amount of points under a very strict time limit. You will have to work fast to find those matching tokens, and most of the time, that will not be enough.

Luckily, help is on the way! If you can combo token removals, you can rack up points very quickly. You also need to keep an eye out for gem-encrusted ones as well; these give you even more points when destroyed, as well as a bonus when the level is completed. And if that is not enough, Treasures of Montezuma 3, like its predecessors, offers a number of upgrades you can buy…

Unlock and Buy New Powers

As you complete levels, bonus levels, or beat the high scores, you will acquire special Golden Stars. With these, you can go to the in-game shop to purchase various powers to make your token-matching adventures that much more easy and dynamic. Buying powers causes all sorts of special effects to happen in Treasures of Montezuma 3. They can include:

Bombs that appear on some tokens. Should the token be destroyed, the bomb will explode, taking all nearby tokens with it.
With the Time Blast, you can earn a few precious seconds on the clock if you destroy the token that it spawns on.
With the Red Totem in your possession, destroying two sets of red token consecutively will cause your friendly Aztec god to throw a pair of fireballs onto the screen, destroying a few tokens at random.
