You have a certain amount of turns to guess the puzzle or get all the letters for the puzzle with the words you make. The first letter of every word you make is used towards the puzzle solution. If the letter is included in the puzzle, it appears, if not, you must make more words. Every word you make takes up 1 turn and when you are out of turns, you get one final guess at the puzzle.

Flip Words also incorporates several fun bonuses to help you along the way. Some letters will appear with a "Free" marker indicating that they don't have to be the first letter in the word you make to be used toward the puzzle. Some letters will come with a score multiplier to boost your word score.
Also, when you get a certain score, you will also be rewarded with an extra turn you can use to solve the puzzle. Get a high enough score and you may make it on the all time Internet high score chart!

4 of 4 people found this review helpful Flipwords consists of a hidden phrase and a grid of letters. You make words from the grid and if the first letter of the word is in the hidden phrase, it goes in there. New grid letters replace the ones you used in your word.
You keep going until you guess or fill in the hidden phrase. Filling it in gives 10,000 bonus points. It gets more and more difficult as you progress and have fewer turns to make words to fill in letters of the phrase.
This is a GREAT game and very addicting. But the reason I say it is "almost perfect" is because the phrases (quote, place, people, etc) are submitted by players and it seems that no one checks them for spelling! It is very frustrating when you can't figure out a phrase because part of it was misspelled or had "your" instead of "you're" or "there" instead of "their" etc..
If QA got on the ball and fixed that, this game would indeed rate a perfect 5 stars!

Certainly worth the time stolen at work to play the game. My grandchildren are sure to find this game in their Chistmas stocking.

I love games with words and Flip Words is an enthusiastic game for enthusiastic people. I made a big mistake by sitting in front of Flip Words at my sister's house and NOW......here I am hook, line and sinker....I'm caught!!! Looks like I'll have to figure out a way to rearrange my budget so I can add Flip Words to my 'puter game collection. Way to go - You really did it! Thanks a million!!!

Which is then enjoyed even more, best of all it's educating my kids with out them even knowing.
It's like a fun spelling bee and it's fun quaility time,
