Looking Forward To Play but, Feb 03, 2010
by (Phoenix, AZ)
I was really looking forward to playing, but it takes a lot more of figuring out ‘how to play’. This is not one of those games you can just pick up quickly and play. And believe me I have experience in playing games.
Over-All looks really interesting and could have been fun to play if spent more time getting down the concept of play.
This game is defiantly for an adult.

oval office-great game, Dec 17, 2009

this game isn’t one of those mindless time wasters, it is an actual strategy game that you become incited with. you can control every aspect of a real country, great for control freaks! this game is a welcomed change from the monotonous other strategy games with waves of enemies and your towers and armies.

Great!!!(but much to be improved), Apr 09, 2009

The policies are realistic. The starting policies of USA are realistic, although you can adjust several settings. However,I could not find"space program” among the policies. The game could consider involving geological positioning of facilities, and personal security. However, the policies are still good, overall speaking.
The events. There are only larger events in the game and smaller ones like fires or reigonal disasters like hurricanes. They actually affect the country a lot sometimes. There is a lack of news. The events are often very influential,so it is not so bad. There is a lack of news.It could have a line or separate “screen” on the interface marked"news”.However, this could be accepttable. What I most want is a less random event collection.
The dilemmas.I LOVE this bit.It can’t be any better, but it could hopefully be related to events.
Situations.Very good.
The terrorist groups.I have a bit more to say about this one. However,I notice their numbers and threatening level don’t match. This also seems to depend on luck a lot.Much to be improved but a GREAT CONCEPT.
The quarterly report.A very good feature. It could have more info on policies.
The Cabinet feature.Tempting at first, but not very realistic. They should be called “secretaries"instead of “ministers”.That sounds SO twenties!
Also, they should attract some votes.Very interesting issue. They actually don’t do much,so I don’t like this.We NEED to change this.Modders,be on alert! Also, there should be new positions in the cabinet you can add and there should be a minister for defence.
I like the achievements. However, sometimes you get these from the start of the game. While this gives an advantage,it also is unfair.Overall good!
Parties/politics.Good idea, the parties. However, more parties should be added and a customizable party name should be good. The voter groups are very in-depth.
I would recommand this game for everyone.I think it is worth the price, particularly for modders.Enjoy it!!!

Great Political Sim Game, Aug 31, 2008
by Corey Reason (Yorktown, Indiana)
Oval Office is perhaps the best political simulation game I have played. The game allows you to control a number of facets (e.g. policy, finance, public opinion, etc) without making it too cumbersome.
I have played a few other games of this nature and felt the play was too heavy handed, in Oval Office it takes that away.
I think the game is a lot of fun, it would be a good tool for an American History or any government class to use as a method of teaching how policy influences voters and the importance of running a balanced budget, without coming across too preachy.
At almost $20 I thought it was a little expensive, but all and all it was a good game.
