my favorite of all time, Jun 03, 2011

CnC have always been my fav rts game ever since the first series come out. although its brother games red alert have gone from good to bad, this series particularly have gone from good to great to hell yeah awesome !!
what i love most is the way the story evolve, from a simple warfare machine to a sophisticated stealth tank, the tiberium series have always been the best !! and this first edition is not left behind either. though the graphic still in bitmap but the gameplay beats it !!! this is how game should be, gameplay first then graphic

Where I Begin.., Mar 24, 2011

this game is the first game that thought me how to start an RTS game. It is just a “Plain and Simple game” before you jump to other complex games, the best headstart is this one. it can be easily understood by a kid.. Like a boot camp for a beginer in RTS. the graphics are A ok.. This game is the mother of all command and conquer sequel.. And I’ve played it, like command and conquer retallation, and other C n’ C. For those who want lot’s of action and fire power this game has it.. Long Live the GDI!

Best Oldie RTS game, Jan 08, 2011
by Carcisswm
Command & Conquer Gold is the best RTS game that came out apart from the newer ones (C&C Tiberian Sun, C&C 2,3 and 4). This game is also a very fun game that anyone can play whether your 10 or even if your 50 years old. the movies in between the missions are also very well played. based on the Brotherhood of NOD and GDI (Global Defense Initiative) are in war with Tiberium and need you to grow tiberium with NOD or help the human race with GDI. I recommend this game to any Fans of Strategy games or any people that are about to be welcomed by the wrath of Tiberium in Command & Conquer Gold Edition.

This is one of the first real time games that shows you what simple fun game play can be. Some of the updated titles dont come close to fun this one has…

A classic RTS-game of its time, Mar 13, 2010
by Aadil
Set on the epoch of major world war era, this game allows you to master the art of war by choosing from among five major nations with their specific weapons and technology. You can play the campaign mode or the skirmish mode, or build a map of your own and play in it against a computer AI, or your friends.
You could also play it online or through LAN,with up to 7 of your friends.
With low requirements for running, this game can easily be played on any computer, but Macintosh users have to change their operating system, if they want to play this game, which I am sure they won’t.
The best thing about this game is its realistic war type battlefield graphics, fast and smooth gameplay and low system requirements.
The only regret one could ever have in having this game is the lack of armies available and hence sometimes repetitive weapons, technologies, and difficulty in establishing a server for local area network for multiplayer mode.
But overall, its a must have title that can easily be downloaded because of its small size.

"CLASSIC", Jan 11, 2010
by Kyle Wingo (Garland,TX)
I have always been a fan of RTS games and a great franchise for newcomers and hardcore gamers alike is the Command & Conquer series. The original in this classic series definitely doesn’t disappoint. It has it all, from the feeling of going from almost nothing to creating and controlling the largest and most powerful force you can possibly create. You can use everything from the lowly soldier with a rifle to a giant tank, or a deadly helicopter, or even a formidable battleship. You must gather rich tiberium fields to fund your massive war machine. Conquer your enemy’s from land, air, or sea, this game has a little bit of everything for everybody. I recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of the series and I especially recommend this game for the newcomers to the RTS war game.

by Alex Kirby (crawley , england)
When I was very young this game came out and it would be all that I played. I now have every C&C game that has ever come out thanks to this first one. But there was one problem, I didn’t have with this one and it was the one that inspired me to get all of them! Now thanks to this site, my collection is complete! This game brings back many old memories of C&C.

This is the most interesting, exciting, and maybe the best game till now. This game has made a very big market in the world of strategy games I pray to god that games like this keep being developed by the best game developer company, that is ELECTRONIC ARTS. And I hope you too will enjoy it. I thank this website for making this game a freeware.

I’ve been a fan of command and conquer, the first time I played it, I skipped breakfast, lunch and almost dinner. It keeps me playing for more. I tried to look for the full version that is compatible for xp, but I fell to dismay because, aside from very expensive, it’s very hard to find here in our country. Thanks to this site and my prayer is answered. Try it guys! Just don’t forget to eat…ENJOY!!!

Holy SMOKES!!!, Aug 19, 2009

I never EVER thought I’d see this game again! WOOOOHOO!!! Yay…unfortunately I’m a poor bloke, I’m still waiting to get a hold of the vast majority of the C&C games having only acquired Red Alert 2 not more than a few months ago. I thought I’d give it a shot and remembered how I used to totally love the first one. Couldn’t find it anywhere. Now all I got to do is get this iso file on a cd and I’m kicking ass all over again!!! I used to really dig the music on the game too, I thought it was awesome. I hope C&C goes on and on and on and on and on and on….

UNREAL! SERIES! BEST GAMES EVER!!!, Aug 10, 2009
by Matt (London ON, Canada)
The Command & Conquer series are most likely the best games of their kind!
Sit down and be prepared to get sucked into the action for hours and hours! Even if you can’t find this as a free download, go out and buy a copy because it’s well worth it!
Enjoy and make sure you don’t have anything planned for the day…week, because you’ll need the time to dominate your enemies!

Revolutionary beginning, Aug 19, 2008
by Adam (IN, USA)
Command and Conquer is the fore-runner of all RTS (real-time strategy) games. It was not necessarily the first of it’s kind, but it is the most popular, and the most well made. In this game you can take control of the battlefield in a way no other game type allows, at the helm of a commander’s bird’s eye view. This game puts you above the battle, instead of in it’s midst. You control small commando teams, as well as an entire base of operations. The game brings in an economic essence as well, as all the units and buildings at your command have a price in ore, which must be harvested. This game takes combat games and revolutionizes how we think about them. Overall the game is an excellent play. I own several copies of the game, and I play it often. Due to it’s release in the 90’s, the graphics are less than what many gamers have come to expect out of modern day games today. However, like any well made game, you will find you keep coming back for more, despite it’s aged graphics.

This game was the foothold in the Westwood company and definately was the game that defined RTS as what it is today… with all the RTS out there, most of it being based, somehow or other, on this game.
It may have a low standard of graphics, but this was ‘94, and this game is still superb (personally i prefer CnC3, but I still play this a lot)
Hands down one of the best games in the industry due to the sheer impact it had on gamers round the world.
10/10

Command and Conquer was the Beginning, Jun 12, 2008
by Corrie (United Kingdom)
Command and Conquer was the first of its westwood brother games, it was this game that influenced so many people into playing RTS’s. Offcourse age of empires came out before it and was just as big a success, but C&C was the first to be set in modern day. It is this game we should thank, for all the new RTS games such as "Empire Earth" and the latest Warhammer 40k games. C&C is a true classic and should never be forgotten and should be admired for its contribution to game enthusiasts Everywhere. LEGEND
