Playable but not great, Mar 09, 2011

game start/Tutorial: The starting screen had a minor user problem (I saw nothing but the logo and assumed it was loading but it actually was just waiting for me to click), but after that the menu was clear and easy to use like most. I went into the campaign submenu and started the tutorial up and got an unexpected but good back story. I followed the instructions but, as I later found out, you have to go SOUTH of the vault (away from the large group of resources that you were told to mine first) to get to a spot you wern’t told to look for before hand so you can place a magma pump on a little patch of spiderwebed grass over magma (what’s with that?). The tutorial also left out some basic combat tactics that explian what is strong vs what.
SCORE:3.2
Single player:The built in campaign has a VERY frusturating first level in which you are a single unit trying to get to the other side of a map covered with enemy turrets that can shoot slightly farther than you can see and takes out a little more than half your life before you can get your unit out of range. you can go all the way to the southern (bottom) map border and take that a little over a forth of the way to the east (right) until you hit more turrets to the east and north of you
BOSWars has the potentail to be a fantastic game but the editior, while usable, needs an overhaul and the tutorial needs to be a little more obvious in a few places. As for the built in campaign, the first level relies purly on guess work, luck, and what you know from previous deaths. The story, as far as I can see, shows alot of promise and the author has good ideas on where he wants the story to go and how he wants to tell it.

the game play comes close to a command and conquer style. the graphics aren’t as sharp as they could have been but many other parts are very well thought out(and you will appreciate it while playing) and although the tutorial leaves some things to be decided, the parts left out are easy to pick up. I have found it to be very engaging and have recommended it to many colleagues at work who would enjoy this title. I think a sequel with some work on the graphics and a little work on the units would be called for. thank you www.download-free-games.com for letting me enjoy this quality game.
