War & Strategy, Aug 12, 2010

Decent gameplay, could be better but it’s an old game so expectations aren’t high. Definitely a good time-killer.

In my opinion, I find this game to be very fun. The graphics are nice (could be better but still pretty good) and this game has many levels. you can go online and play as well. It doesn’t lag and rarely crashes. You can also ally with other players or just simply have war with everyone. On the other hand, there are some issues about this game. Since this is a RTI game (a type of strategy game where you take turns making your moves and attacking), the computer players can sometimes take forever to make a move. and by forever, i mean about 2-5 minutes. For me, that is pretty long because you cant do anything in the game while it is the computers turn
Overall, I like this game. I recommend it to people who like strategy games or war games.

Review for 8 Kingdoms, Jun 20, 2009

This 3D war strategy game’s graphics are good quality with well-modeled characters.
Select one of the variety of stages and fight along with your friends(or computer), online or not. You can fight a war between 2-4 roles(players).
While playing in offline mode, you and your friends take turns to move the army, order an attack or build more structures.
The main idea of the game is to win in conquer or death-match mode with your strategies.
Overall, this is a great game for family play and good chance to show off your strategy skills to your friends!

Hi,
I’m Greg*, member of the development team. I know that the actual version has several drawbacks.
However, We are currently revising the sources, to improve speed, performance, and other aspects of the game! It’s currently in an early stage, and no release date is set. But, if you were disappointed by the game, you will surely be interested in the future version!
If you are willing to take an active part, submit any idea, please feel free to send me an e-mail.
Cheers,

8 Kingdoms too long!!!!!!, Apr 17, 2008
by Ace77 (Florida, USA)
8 kingdoms is a Turn based RTS, you know the drill - bulid a base - bulid a worker - build a barracks - build an army - attack the enemy.
Nothing really new here!
Upside: Multiplayer can be fun.weather effects(although not great) adds a bit of difference.
It’s Free. Download times were very quick.
Downside: Single Player game is weak. A.I isn’t very good (the A.I cavalry, repeatedly charged uphill into my pikemen, until they all died!). Armies has no detail- just blobs of colour. Having to hear an annoying soundbite of "YO" everytime after selecting any unit..
No in-game battle sounds.
All in all, there’s much better freeware RTS games avaliable.
If you have broadband- it downloads at around 70 seconds. Try it for 10 minute if you hate it- delete it and you’ve only wasted about 12 minutes of your life!
