43211 I love Age of "anything", but this takes the cake!!!!!!!!!, Sep 05, 2008

by Jeff (Seattle, WA USA)

Age of Castles is one of my all-time favorite games. There is so much you can do and i love how it takes time to build things and upgrade. Buying extra potions and all of the stuff on the other menu like the shields and armor and all gives you something to do while you are building your castle. i also love the battles that take place that also give you another thing to do. That is a great feature. One thing i would like is some more variety in weapons and all in the battles. But still this is one of my favorite games.

43211 Here some tips for you., Aug 29, 2008

this game is a fun game but it is hard to maintain your kingdom. you should vist the magic shop every day to see if you have enough gems to purchase any magic to maintain your kingdom. be sure to put your people to good use warriors and clerics are the people you need in you kingdom. Be sure to keep balance in you land. do not take on anything that you can not handle or you may lose your kingdom. I thought the game was fun and I like it a lot. just be sure that you build you kingdom and you know what you need to fight and not fight because you have to know the difference in when to fight and when to retreat. that is what make a good ruler know when to fight and when to retreat. so all of you who play the game rule well. It is worth the download and the price for it.

43211 age of castles- no graphics, great game, May 17, 2008

by Robby (TX USA)

The age of castles is what I would call an excellent game for people who enjoy thinking. There really isn’t much action that YOU control but if taking on the undead in a "risk" type fashion is your thing, then go for it! The game has very poor graphics but in my opinion, it makes up for it in actual strategy. The thing I like most about this game is that you actually control the population of the working masses, and what job they do, and can change it whenever you choose to fit whatever job you want done. I do think the price was a little excessive but once the game REALLY gets started it’s worth it. Thanks for reading!

21321 i did not like that game at all., Mar 14, 2008

by Cameron (vancouver,BC Canada)

I really did not like that game.it if a good game for anybody who likes a no action turn based game where you have to support a small castle.i played
the full hour of the game it was fun the first
couple of hours but then it started to run out of
stuff to do.I’m not trying to insult the game I’m just saying it could be better.I rate it 2 out 0f 5.

21321 Mildy Entertaining, Jan 26, 2008

by Evan (Sparta, NJ USA)

Age of Castles is a very simple, slow paced game. I would definitely recommend it to people who get interrupted a lot, or just can’t handle a lot going on at once, however if you like action and excitement you will be very disappointed. Start your kingdom, choose what jobs your population is distributed among, and grow. Technically the object is to get more people, but there are other factors that affect the game. There are a few items to buy, but overall there is very little variety and gets boring by about the 3rd level (out of about 20)
Bottom line: its worth the 8 mb download, but definitely not $20

It seems like a good game at first, but becomes very repetitive and dull. Not too much variation to keep you interested in the long run. So please don’t expect much, and it will not disappoint you.

43211 very addicting, Oct 16, 2007

by Jarrod Dennison (Brandon, Fl USA)

This is an over all great game. The problem i found with most games is that you have to concentrate on to many things at one time. With "Age of Castles" it is incredibly easy to watch everything that is going on. In most games you have to scroll everywhere trying to find the rest of the map, but in this game everything is right in front of you. There are 4 Different command areas and you only use 2 of them for MAYBE 2-3 minutes out of every hour if that much. On top of that the outcome of the game is different every time you play the game do to variables that are out of your control. Like i said over-all Great game.

43211 Good Game!, Jul 13, 2007

by Chad (Northville, Mi USA)

Well i thought this was a good game, and i loved the idea of managing my own castle and troops. I thought that there could be a little more things to do during the game, like moving men around and choosing what to upgrade, ect. but over all it was a good game i give it an A-

32121 Definately recommended, Jul 05, 2007

Age of Castles is a fairly intersecting game. There are certain strategies you need to use: it’s not all just clicking a button, even though what happens each day is random and therefore not under your control. This aside, the game is pretty much waiting on you to do something: sitting there is not going to achieve anything for you and your chances of winning. In conclusion, get stuck in!

21321 My likes and dislikes about age of castles, Jun 23, 2007

by MIchael (Midlothian, Va)

Well over all this was a fun game. What i didn’t like about this game is all you do basically is press a button and wait for the outcomes. Sure your castle changes and you get more people but over all its the same movement for the people ALL THE TIME and the background changes every level but it is a boring and bleak background. And everytime you battle there is no movement and the sound is the same whenever somebody gets hit. I know that seems like a lot of bad things but overall its a fun addicting game. I think that it was fun because you dont get the same outcome twice, theres a lot of levels, and you get to manage your people, buy items, and change locations. I think this game is great mainly for kids because adults wont be as easily entertained by it, but does give about a half an hour of fun every so often. ENJOY!

P.S. I would recommend the warrior king with 40 merchants, 20 builders, 15 clerks, and 25 soldiers.

Its a cool game and its fun to raise your civilization. however it takes quite some time to build other than that its an awesome game, and i would love to have it. Playing the game is really fun and exciting. Its one of my top games i have ever played. thanks for reading this review.

I think this is a good game, but it is not really a war game. It is more about controlling the number of merchants, clerks, builders, and swordsmen to control how your kingdom will improve in different aspex. By the way it IS a good game, with good graffix, and well designed. It keeps me by the computer.

First of all, it is a pretty good game. The way the strategy is made out is pretty good. But there is also a slight bore to it. Like, it takes a very long time to finish making each part of the castle. It feels very fun at the beginning, but later on, it got boring. I say I would like the game, it could have some improvments. It worth is wait for it. The full version could be cheaper. In my opinion, it would be good for people aged 12-20. This game is not as strategetic as Dune 2000 or Starcraft. I would rate this the 6th best game I have ever played. I would give it a 4/5. Thank you for your time reading this review.

54321 ABSOLUTELY AWESOME, May 07, 2007

by Happy Gamer (Alberta, Canada)

This games enticed me straight from the title.  I have only played the trial version.  Having only one hour to play left me eagerly awaiting more.  It not only pulls your desire to construct large populations to repel enemies, and conquer new lands.  But it requires you to really, plan out what you need to do.  The easy difficulty is easy, but trying it on a harder difficulty, OH MY GOD AWESOME!!!!!!!

43211 Age Of Castles, An Iron Age Release, Apr 17, 2007

by kössi kenguru (Helsinki Finland)

When you think of the first two words of this game, most people think of some of maybe the best games of there time, but this is maybe one of the worst games out now. This was possibly one of the dullest games i have played in a while. This game rates about on par with minesweeper for action and brain power necessary, along with the strategy involved. If you are looking for a strategy game to introduce your young children to this might be a starting point but for anyone who has ever passed a game of solitaire my recommendation would be to steer clear. Age of Castles is possible a game which was introduced during the Iron age and is now being re-released.

But i must give my thanks to the guys behind this site for giving me the option of trying before buying, cos i think the cash could be better spent on a third deck of cards.

32121 A Reasonably Good Game, 3 out of 5, Apr 15, 2007

by Nam (New York City, NY USA)

If you’re addicted to medieval building games or don’t feel like spending twice its cost for a big budget title, Age of Castles is pleasant enough with basically repetitive gameplay that makes for a nice pause in your day.

Pros: Easy interface and reasonably simple gameplay that follows in the footsteps of successful big budget titles. The graphics are not remotely high end but pretty good. Addition of devilish, hellish enemies, whicj makes this game more distinctive from AOE.

Cons: It’s nice but not a game you’re likely to get too wrapped up in and will get bored of before too long. This game is essentially a clone of the successful AOE series, so you might get a little disappointed and critical. And, yes, it’s way TOO simple, you could finish it in a half an hour or so.

Overall, this is a decent and relatively cheap (15 bucks) game to play for at least 5 hours. Don’t expect a lot and you won’t be disappointed.

43211 Great fun !, Apr 14, 2007

I started playing this game a couple of weeks ago, and I really like it, I love medevil settings and castles. It’s easy to play. I like RPG type games, that don’t have a thick, long storylines that can get tedious. This game is quick, to the point, and my teenagers like it . The violence is to a minimal if any for that matter, you do battles with goblins, giant bats, but it’s based on points and gold that can be collected if you defeat the enemy, for the kids it can help to teach them leadership and managing their gold, the kingdom, castle etc.. I plan on buying it for the family. Great game.
