BEST PC GAME EVER!!!, Nov 15, 2011
by Liam E (Canada)
I used to NEVER use my PC for anything but email and facebook, that was before cave story. It has an amazing story, great action, amazing music and the graphics; they are amazing, i love the retro-style 8-bit graphics in every way, shape, and form.
The official review says the lack of difficulty setting is a con, i dissagree, it hardly needs one, as the difficulty level is perfect, it isn’t extremly brutal like, say Megaman Zero, yet puts up a challenge that makes me proud of myself. Honestly i beleive the only reason they put that as a con is because the couldn’t think of anything else to critque.

Elements of the older mario and link games, the Cave Story game completely revamps 2D side-scrolling as we know it. The original soundtrack is as outstanding as the weapon selection. The story line long, challenging and entertaining. Did I mention its free?

best graphics ever!, Apr 11, 2009

I probably would not like better graphics in cave story. It wouldn’t be cave story anymore. By the way, even for this simple game, you need a lot of skills to win the secret version ending of the game. This is especially true at time trails.

A great and refreshing game, Apr 04, 2009

This game has a wonderful story with greatly developed charactors and locations. The graphics are older but also cute. The music is good, but for a better experience, listen to the Cave Story Project songs, people have remixed the soundtrack of the game into a wonderful collection.
The only problems I experienced in the game were that I died a lot in boss battles (they are killable) and my game download is missing a vital item to progress the way I want to.
All in all, a very great game.

A great RPG for the PC!!!, May 08, 2007
by Brandon Brack (Canon City, CO)
This is a great RPG for the computer! It has alot of levels, several different weapons, and alot of shooting! Even though the graphics aren’t too great, it is easy to forget. Also, it is fairly simple to learn and you can easily lose yourself in the game. What I like best about Cave Story is it places you straight into the game, it doesn’t start with a dialog or monologues, so don’t have to wait very long to start your game. Speeching of which, it is worth waiting for the download since the games is smaller than a mega-byte, but don’t let that fool ya! This game is jammed packed full of many monsters, bosses, levels, surprises, and definately alot of action!! Most of it is simple; you start out in a cave, you dodge bats, find your starting gun, obliterate the bats, and start out in mamiga village. You get experience for your guns, and get life capsules to upgrade your health meter. get experience from killing enemy’s and refeul your heart guage by finding a safe house! Good Luck!

This game is awesome! it feels like Mario arcade with a hint of Monster Bash from the 90’s, those were the days of simple yet fun games you could play for hours on end. A must to play!
