Dream Chronicles Review

Pros
  • Objects picked up have obvious uses.
  • Artistically unique and attractive locations.
Cons
  • Too much game narration- a pop up with text appears one in every three clicks or so.
  • No hints or help feature to aid if you become stuck.
  • Game saves from the beginning of the last scene, does not save progress made in that scene.

Dream Chronicles Review

Dream Chronicles will test your patience as you try to find objects needed to unlock new areas to save your husband and wake your daughter from the eternal slumber cast by the fairy queen of dreams.

Casual Adventure

Every scene has several items needed to accomplish a task and move onward, such as collecting pieces of wood and rope, sawing them off and constructing a bridge to cross.

Clicking just about everywhere is a safe strategy in this game, as objects picked up can have a later use Fortunately, a glimmer of light does eventually shine from an object that has not been added to the inventory. In the absence of a hint feature however, many objects clicked on prompt a text-dense pop-up that easily becomes aggravating and detracts from the game. Furthermore, dream jewels that must be collected result in a similar pop-up every time one of the many are found, describing their background which is not terribly invigorating.

Not Always Easy to Find Objects

In this point-and-click adventure, expect more clicking than adventure. The scenes themselves are very well constructed and of a high aesthetic quality, but game progression offers limited animated activity in each scene and it can become easy to lose interest in the game if you are unable to deduce where to find an object to move onward.

Conclusion - A Decent Challenge for Experienced Players

Overall, it's too easy to become stuck and the lack of excitement makes this an easy game to walk away from. However, to the more experienced adventure player, the challenge presented here is high and this game is recommended to those interested in the added difficulty.
