More Than Just MahJong

MahJong Quest 2 is a take on the classic Chinese tile matching game that incorporates an online game mode, along with an adventure and freeplay modes of play. In this game you help Kwazi, the protagonist from the original game, restore order and bring balance back to the cosmos.

In this game Kwazi is struck by lightning and his being is divided into two personas, representing both the good and the bad, the ying and yang. Through matching tiles and solving mahjong puzzles you can restore the order.

Mahjong Basics

Mahjong, for those of you not familiar with the name, is a Chinese tile matching game. Through pairing up like tiles you eliminate them from the game space. The goal is to eliminate all of the original tiles as quickly as you can. Playing with strategy is essential for success. You might want to get rid of as many tiles as you can early and then slow down and strategically eliminate pieces that will help you in the long run. Mahjong Quest 2 offers different hints and special tile pieces to help you if you are in a rut, however, these are limited so use them sparingly.

3 Game Modes For Variety

Mahjong Quest 2 offers three game modes that keep the game entertaining, exciting, and last a long time. This game has a freeplay mode, along with both an adventure and online play. In the freeplay mode you casually play mahjong, pairing tiles and eliminating them from the game board.

There are over 500 game layouts to choose from and this mode is ideal for someone just getting started in the game, or for someone looking to develop strategies. Freeplay lets you start out playing easy levels and then it increases in difficulty as your skills develop.

The second of modes, adventure mode, is the “quest” in Mahjong Quest. Quest is the more complete and adventuresome game mode. In this mode you must complete mahjong puzzles by pairing a ying-yang, in order to advance to the next levels and restore the order of the cosmos. The quest mode harnesses your mahjong skill through a fun and easy to play avenue, while it is extremely engaging and desirable to play.

The final mode, which is an addition from the original Quest game, is an online tournament mode. In this you choose your name and location. You play against people throughout the world, matching puzzle pieces as quickly as you can. This mode incorporates multiplying coins that boost your score and add to the game's excitement. In this you compete for a set time frame and you face the same layouts as your competitors. The online play can be difficult, but the feeling you will experience playing against others is great and definitely rewarding, especially after a win.

Not Many Drawbacks

As far as flaws go this game has very few. The only real drawbacks are features this game is lacking and the monotony you might experience. Unlike a lot of other mahjong tile games, this game does not allow you to create your own layouts or download layouts from others through the internet. Having this option would make this game have seemingly endless layouts and ways to play.

Another issue with this game, like mentioned above, is the level of monotony you might experience. This game can get boring after awhile despite the online and quest modes which are engaging.

Conclusion - A Top Tier Majong Game

Overall, Mahjong Quest 2 is a great mahjong tile game that incorporates adventure nicely. Though you will not be able to create your own layouts or download them from the internet, this game is a top tier mahjong game. The adventure element and online capabilities adds a desire to play many other mahjong titles lack. Also, the rich strategic elements coupled with the enriching qualities make this a must play.

If you are already a fan of mahjong or are looking for a good title to start playing, this is a great option for you.
