Great-A Tropical Fusion of Hidden Object, Adventure, and Puzzle!, Dec 15, 2010

As a fan of both puzzle and hidden-object genres, I was eager to try out the newest addition to Big Fish Game’s Hidden Expedition series. Devil’s Triangle is the fourth game in the series, and it takes a few leaps away from the formula that shaped the past three games. Instead of just a standard scene-by-scene hidden object game, Devil’s Triangle throws a little bit of puzzle and point & click adventure into the mix as well. This offers some variety, but it also seems to depart too much from the hidden-object formula that made the others so memorable. Not that it’s a bad thing, but I found myself solving puzzles more often that searching for hidden objects. Gameplay aside, Devil’s Triangle features a higher resolution of graphics than the previous Hidden Expedition games. The images are sharper, and everything has a nice, polished look to them. Adding to the experience is the sound. From seagulls calling to the mechanical whirring of some device, the sound really makes everything come together.

Overview: Hidden Expedition Devil’s Triangle is a puzzle-filled adventure game that, although it departs from the traditional hidden-object formula, offers some great mind-bending puzzles that will keep you occupied for several sittings.
