Flo Lends a Hand

Diner Dash 2 Restaurant Rescue follows up right where last year's mega hit Diner Dash left off. Restaurant savant Flo now owns 5 restaurants of her own. Just when it all seems to be going well, Mega Corp is threatening the livelihood of 4 small restaurants - all friends of Flo. Determined not to let her friends down, Flo agrees to assist them with her awesome restaurant exerpertise.

More of the Same & Some Improvements

If you are concerned about this sequel losing any of the fun of the original, just a few minutes of play will ease your worries. Diner Dash 2 is just as good and perhaps even better considering the following improvements:

  • Handle old and new customer types - Family, Cell Phone Addict, Bookworm, Kind Senior, Jogger, Young Woman, Business Woman
  • Buy improvements for the restaurants
  • Enhanced graphics
  • 5 new restaurants - Darla's Cafe, Tony's Ristorante, Margarita's Cantina, Toshiro's Japanese Grill, & surprise 5th restaurant.
  • Bonus screensaver mode
  • New powerups and seating challenges

If You've Never Played Diner Dash...

Diner Dash 2 is all about running a successful restaurant and keeping your customers happy. It is frantic fun and non-stop action.

In a nutshell, you will:

  1. Seat customers
  2. Take orders
  3. Serve food
  4. Settle the bill
  5. Bus tables

If you've kept your customers happy by serving them quickly and keeping their special needs in mind, you will be rewarded with bigger tips. Each level requires you to earn a certain amount of money before you can go on to the next level.

Like Real Life, Customers are the Big Challenge

Jobs are great if it weren't for the people right? Running a restaurant (and playing Diner Dash) is no different. You will face some challenging, and demanding customers who might just walk away if they aren't served to their expectations. Here are the customer types along with their different behaviors:

  1. Young Woman - Orders and eats at a moderate speed, moderately patience, moderate noise tolerance, average tipper
  2. Family - Orders and eats at a moderate speed, moderately patience, high noise tolerance, noisy when unhappy
  3. Cell Phone Addict - Orders and eats fast, low patience, high noise tolerance, always noisy, high tipper
  4. Bookworm - Orders and eats slow, high patience, low noise tolerance, average tipper
  5. Kindly Senior - Orders and eats slow, high patience, moderately dislikes noise, low tipper
  6. Jogger - Orders and eats at a moderate speed, moderately patient, high noise tolerance, average tipper
  7. Businesswoman - Orders and eats fast, low patience, moderate noise tolerance, high tipper

How you care for these customers - speed at serving, seating according to noise tolerance, etc. - will determine your success at Diner Dash. Throw in bonuses for seating according to color types and handling the same tasks in a row and you have a recipe for a real challenge!

The full version of Diner Dash 2 includes:

  • 50 challenging skill-based levels and the chance to help Flo's friends succeed with their restaurants!
  • A game that teaches you how to prioritize the most important tasks - who can't use a little help with that?
  • Enjoyment from a more realistic game than most - real waitresses love this game because the challenges are just like their jobs!
  • Experience many different types of customers that require special serving needs - great challenge!
  • A game the whole family will love - non-violent and thought provoking!
  • A great stress reliever - great for work breaks, study breaks, or people breaks!
  • This game is backed up by DFG's 90 day, full satisfaction return policy!

Following the sucess of Diner Dash I expected this game to be even better, and it did impress me. One thing I didn't like though is that Flo isn't managing her own restaurant, which takes away the thrill when the restaurant is successful. To make up for that though, you get to choose your own new upgrades to make to the cafe. I think the game is really fun to play, and it is worth the time and money to download and install. It is a game for children and adults alike as I think everyone in the family will get involved playing it. When I was playing it the whole family wanted a go, so we all took our own turns. I liked doing the endless shifts and choosing some things to make Flo move faster, the customers more patient etc. I think you should go and download the game right now, so go ahead!

With Diner Dash being a sensation, how could publishers not make a Diner Dash 2? The follow-up, however, was not as good as the original. Unlike Diner Dash, Flo does not work in her own restuarant chain. Each restaurant she works in is own by a friend, and Flo is there to save their restaurants from a takeover by a big company. Diner Dash 2 introduces you to new types of customers and new ways to make customers happy. However, unlike Diner Dash, the game is easy to beat, and you may feel yourself becoming bored because of its lack of challenge. The game seems perfect for younger kids, just beginning gaming experiences. In the end, the follow up to Diner Dash was a bit of a disappointment.

If you liked the original Diner Dash and Flo on the Go then you'll enjoy Diner Dash 2. Instantly addictive, I found myself unable to sleep thinking about different strategies. I would have awarded it a full five stars if they kept at least part of the original upgrade feature intact. Although it was fun to be able to design my own restaurant as the game progressed when it comes to game playing, I much preferred being able to select items that improved specific aspects of play.
